FilmyFly Kubera 2025 South Indian Movie Plot Summary
Plot Summary
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s underground networks and political greed, Kubera begins with Neeraj Mitra (Jim Sarbh), a powerful businessman who discovers an oil reserve hidden beneath the Bay of Bengal. With dreams of wealth and total political control, he devises a covert operation backed by corrupt politicians.
To pull off the plan, he enlists Deepak (Nagarjuna), a once-honest CBI officer now imprisoned for rejecting bribes. Desperate, Deepak agrees and begins to recruit a crew of society’s most overlooked: beggars from across the country.
Among them is Deva (Dhanush), a naive yet pure-hearted man from Tirupati. Deva believes he’s finally found a purpose in Mumbai but discovers that he’s merely a pawn—marked for death along with the others. He escapes, sparking a high-stakes manhunt.
On the run, Deva crosses paths with Sameera (Rashmika Mandanna), a woman abandoned in the city. Their evolving bond becomes the emotional backbone of the film, interweaving survival, betrayal, and redemption.
Performances
- Dhanush is at his absolute best as Deva—his transformation from an innocent villager to a fugitive on the run is both heartbreaking and heroic.
- Nagarjuna delivers a nuanced performance, playing a conflicted man torn between morality and desperation.
- Rashmika Mandanna brings depth and soul to Sameera, delivering emotional gravitas in her scenes.
- Jim Sarbh as Neeraj Mitra is chillingly believable, a symbol of capitalist ambition devoid of ethics.
- Supporting cast including Dalip Tahil round out the ensemble with convincing intensity.
FilmyFly Kubera 2025 South Indian Movie Direction & Screenplay
Direction & Screenplay
Sekhar Kammula handles the narrative with finesse. The screenplay, co-written by Chaithanya Pingali, balances emotional beats with high-stakes action. The shift in tone from hope to betrayal is seamless, and the parallel narratives between the rich and the destitute elevate the story’s impact.
Cinematography & Editing
Niketh Bommireddy’s visuals showcase two contrasting worlds—Mumbai’s elite corridors and the underbelly where Deva hides. The camera work is both gritty and poetic. The editing by Karthika Srinivas ensures that despite the lengthy runtime, the story remains compelling and taut.
